This kid means a lot to me.
In some ways he’s 11, modelled to be the size of one that has eaten a fair few Happy meals, and I started making him 11 years ago. I thought he was finished 10 years ago but he snapped in half in transit and languished in a corner of my studio for many years.
During lockdown I found the time and motivation to fix him, strengthen him (braced legs) give him the love that he deserves.

In some ways he is about 30, as many of the toys date back to the early 90s.

In terms of happy meal toys, I suppose you should know:
1) I am vegetarian
2) I have never eaten a happy meal
3) I collected these toys at car boot sales, charity shops and eBay over many years
4) He contains over 1000 toys.

5) We used to call him the Fat Boy but decided that’s not ok, so renamed him as ‘Happy Boy’. He is fat though. And churlish.

6) He needs a loving home.

I could waffle on all day about happy meal toys - their high quality, their environmental impact, their marketing power, their innovations, their pull, but I won’t. The fact is they have actually stopped making disposable plastic toys as free giveaways with meals and replaced them with books - so the lesson may be ‘careful what you wish for’.
